About · The art

The embroidery is worked freehand straight onto the fabric, and therefore each picture is unique. I work from drawings, pictures or personal photographs. Free machine embroidery permits great versatility in textures and depth.
Embroidery allows one to take a flat image from paper and translate it with thread into a three-dimensional, vibrant scenes, which immediately become alive and exciting.
I use my sewing machine for free motion embroidery, treating my needle like a paint brush, using Rayon and Silk threads, continually changing thread colour to capture shade and light.
I use water soluble fabric to create three-dimensional individual details in the foreground.
